CAN’T TRUST KELLY AYOTTE: Ayotte Conveniently Changes Tune on Data Centers
 

After months of refusing to “support a statewide moratorium” on data centers, Kelly Ayotte is desperately attempting to rewrite her record. She now claims to support a data center moratorium, “represent[ing] a shift in her position.”

Ayotte has had months to take action and voice her opposition, but instead, she signed legislation that opened up the door for data centers to expand across New Hampshire. Ayotte has also slashed renewable energy solutions, and electricity costs have climbed 15% under her failed leadership. 

Just months ago, it was reported that Ayotte accepted a campaign contribution from the developer who proposed a data center in Nottingham, New Hampshire. His proposal “ignited a firestorm” and “collapsed” in a matter of days, with 20,000+ people signing on to a petition opposing the project. Costly Kelly’s lackluster response was to be expected, given that she’s failed to impose “statewide guardrails,” allowing others to bring “another proposal” forward at any given time.

If Costly Kelly really believed New Hampshire needed a statewide moratorium, why didn’t she say so months ago, when Granite Staters were already fighting to stop massive data centers from coming to their communities?

“Kelly Ayotte isn’t leading on data centers; she’s chasing the headlines after months of sitting on the sidelines,” said NHDP Chair Ray Buckley. “Ayotte had every opportunity to put the brakes on massive data center development in New Hampshire, and she chose not to. Granite Staters know they can’t trust Kelly Ayotte to stand by her word.”
